Dear Shaw Man and Shaw Woman Society,

I am proud to write this letter, and I am proud of you. The Shaw Man & Shaw Woman Society is a program fostered by students with support from the University.  The program serves to instill positive values and growth in students’ lives while demonstrating the highest standards of Shaw University.  This is the only student program that the University attests to the demonstrated character of students.

I congratulate you on the work you have done to bring this program to fruition. You embraced the concepts of the Society to respect human dignity and work together for common good.  You worked long hours to help develop the program, and you have taken it to unprecedented heights.

I am delighted at the commitment you have made and the examples you have set.  Indeed, I feel like a proud father who has diligently nurtured his children to maturity.  You are ready to fly for you exemplify the values set forth by the Society, and your positive image serves as a shining example to everyone who meets you.

When you prepare to leave Shaw University, I encourage you to continue to live your life in all its fullness.  Continue to live the promise set forth by the Society to maintain integrity, intellect, resourcefulness, love, caring, determination, thoughtfulness, and graciousness.

Remember, that above all, as a Shaw Man and Shaw Woman, you possess esprit de corps—a  common spirit that exists in each member of the group that inspires enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard for the honor of the group, and toward the legacy and value of Shaw University.
